Nashville Latino Health Coalition
The Nashville Latino Health Coalition (NLHC) is a collaboration among members of the grassroots Hispanic community and public health, healthcare, non-profit, academic and other organizations, who all share the common goal of improving the health of the Nashville Hispanic community. NLHC was founded in November 2005.
GOALS
1. To empower grassroots Latino community members to identify community strengths, needs and solutions
2. To facilitate collaboration between Latino community members and organizations based on reciprocal learning and mutual benefit
3. To increase access to accurate health related-information and improve communication between organizations and Latino community members
4. To improve access to quality, culturally-appropriate healthcare among the Nashville Latino population

What we do
NLHC employs a community-based, participatory approach which emphasizes community empowerment, capacity building, and shared decision-making power. Come get involved!

- Nashville Bilingual Health Guide for persons without health insurance, to encourage prevention and early treatment
- A study of a social marketing campaign to increase use of the HPV vaccine against cervical cancer
- Collaborating with universities and Progreso Community Center on childhood obesity prevention research projects
- We are planning more initiatives!
